2025 BECE & WASSCE: GES Rolls Out Special Support for Students Who Need It Most"

The Ghana Education Service (GES), through its Regional Education Office in Koforidua, is taking steps to support students with special educational needs as they prepare for the 2025 BECE and WASSCE exams. In a letter dated April 4, 2025, the GES has re-requested all Municipal and District Directors of Education to submit a list of such students from both public and private schools within their jurisdictions.

This request follows an earlier letter dated March 24, 2025, from the Special Education Division (SpED) of GES. The goal is to provide reasonable accommodations—special supports or adjustments—to ensure these students can take their exams under fair and supportive conditions.

According to Ghana’s Inclusive Education Policy, every learner deserves the chance to succeed, no matter their challenges. For students with special needs, this may include accommodations such as extended time, special seating arrangements, or assistive tools during exams. These supports help reduce the barriers that could affect their performance.

GES is asking that all such students are already practicing with the type of support they will need during the exam, and that medical reports are attached to confirm their needs. This helps ensure that the right kind of help is provided during the BECE and WASSCE.

All lists should be submitted to the Regional Special Education Coordinator via WhatsApp on 0550108631 by 12th April 2025. A template has been provided to guide the submission process.

This move shows the commitment of the GES to making sure every child has an equal opportunity to succeed in education, especially during important national exams.

Together, we can make inclusive education a reality for all.
