Numerous Shops at CMB in Accra are destroyed by fire

A terrible fire that ripped through several shops at CMB, behind Kantamanto in Accra, destroyed items worth millions of Ghana cedis. On a Sunday, at 5:00 am, a fire started; its origin is still under investigation. Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rushed quickly to the situation, but by the time they arrived, many shops had already been consumed by flames.

ADO2 Several flammable items were found at the fire scene, according to Alex Nartey, a public relations officer for the GNFS. Unfortunately, some shops were completely destroyed when the fire was ultimately put out. Many of the market vendors expressed their anger and grief over the situation while admitting that they had lost everything in the fire.

The GNFS is advising merchants to use caution while handling electrical appliances and to avoid keeping combustible goods in their stores in light of this regrettable incident. It is crucial to note that around 200 stores were destroyed in a similar incident at the CMB market in 2020, making this the second large fire catastrophe to occur there recently.
