As part of preparations to release the results of students who sat for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School and Private, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has updated https://eresults.waecgh.org, the portal to be used for checking the national examination results.
Checks by thinkofgh.com indicate the examination year has been updated from last year (2024) to this year (2025), indicating the not-for-profit-making organization (WAEC )’s readiness to announce the release of the BECE results online.
A spokesperson for the African Examinations Council, John Kapi, has said the management of his outfit by the end of July will release the provisional BECE results of Junior High School (JHS) students who sat for the national examination.
“Marking of the BECE scripts is ongoing, and tentatively, we are looking at the last week of July. Normally, we give ourselves a grace period of 7 days, so by the end of July or the first week of August, the 2025 BECE results should be out,” he stated.
Meanwhile, an official of the not-for-profit organization (WAEC) has told Pretertiary.com, the 2025 BECE for School and Private results, if not released by the end of July, will be out first week of August, 2025.
He said that, although the WAEC has not yet released the 2025 BECE for School and Private Candidates outcome, the results of over 248 students for sat for the national examination have been withheld due to examination irregularities.
“The candidates, who took part in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School and Private Candidates, 2025, and were alleged to have been involved in examination irregularities, have been invited to the WAEC Regional Offices where they wrote the examination,” the WAEC official stated..
This year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School is being written by 603,328 candidates — comprising 297,250 males and 306,078 females — from 20,395 Junior High Schools (JHSs) nationwide.
Regarding the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for Private Candidates, the not-for-profit-making organisation (WAEC) says 1,661 candidates, made up of 858 males and 803 females, participated in the examination.
The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School Candidates was conducted at 2,237 examination centres across the country, while fifteen (15) centres, mainly in the regional capitals, were used for the BECE for Private candidates.
To ensure the success of the exams, WAEC, in collaboration with Ghana Education (GES) and the Ministry of Education (MoE), deployed 2,237 supervisors, 2,016 assistant supervisors, and 21,206 invigilators.
The West African Examinations Council scheduled the 2025 edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination for School and Private Candidates to be conducted from Wednesday, June 11, 2025, to Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
