How to Check Your GTLE Status, Pay Fees and Register for the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE)

Prospective candidates for the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) must complete a series of steps before they can successfully register for the examination.

The National Teaching Council (NTC) requires fresh candidates to complete indexing, verify their status, pay the required fees and complete online registration before the registration deadline.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you through the process.

Step 1: Check Your GTLE Status

Before making any payment, candidates should first verify that their details have been uploaded onto the NTC indexing portal.

Only candidates whose information has been uploaded by their institution will be able to proceed with indexing and registration.

Step 2: Complete the Indexing Process

Fresh candidates are required to undergo indexing before registering for the examination.

An indexing fee of GH¢50 is payable. However, candidates writing the examination as resit applicants are exempt from this requirement.

Step 3: Pay the Required Fees

Payments can be made at any Prudential Bank branch nationwide or via Mobile Money by dialing *772*51# and selecting Teacher Licensure.

After successful payment, candidates will receive an SMS containing their indexing number and further instructions.

GTLE Registration Fees

Step 4: Register for the GTLE

After receiving your indexing number or voucher details, visit the NTC examinations portal and select either Fresh Registration or Resit Registration.

Candidates will be required to:

  • Enter their Serial Number and PIN.
  • Complete their personal and academic information.
  • Upload a recent passport-size photograph with a white background.
  • Review and submit the application.
  • Print a copy of the registration slip for future reference.

Eligibility Requirements

According to the National Teaching Council, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree; or
  • A Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).

Applicants with foreign qualifications must obtain an evaluation report from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) before registering.

Important Reminders

Candidates are advised not to make any payment until they have confirmed that their details have been uploaded onto the indexing portal by their training institution.

The NTC also advises applicants to carefully verify all information entered during registration, as changes particularly to passport photographs may not be permitted after submission. Proof of payment and the registration slip should be kept safely until the examination process is completed.
