Ada SHS Students Arrested After Viral Cutlass Threat Video Sparks Public Outrage
Four students of have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service after a disturbing viral video showed one of the students brandishing a cutlass and allegedly threatening fellow students on campus.
According to reports from the Tema Regional Police Command, the incident came to the attention of the police at about 12:10 a.m. on May 22, 2026, after officers intercepted the video circulating widely on social media. The alarming footage reportedly prompted an immediate response from a police night patrol team, which was dispatched to the school to restore calm and begin investigations.
With support from school authorities, police arrested three students identified as Raymond Gyamfi, Oscar Amemoair, and Odartey Wilson, all aged 18, together with a juvenile who also appeared in the viral video.
The four suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations as authorities work to establish the circumstances that led to the incident and whether additional persons may have been involved.
In a statement, the Tema Regional Police Command urged students across the country to resolve disagreements peacefully through established school procedures rather than resorting to violence, intimidation, or threats.
Police further appealed to parents, guardians, and school authorities to intensify supervision, guidance, and discipline among students in order to maintain safety and order within educational institutions.
The Command assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that further updates will be communicated in due course.
The incident has since triggered widespread concern among Ghanaians on social media, with many calling for stricter disciplinary measures and improved security in second-cycle institutions across the country.
