2023/2024 Batches of Teachers to Be Recruited – About 6,000 to 10,000 to Start, Says Education Minister
The Minister for Education, , has revealed that the government is preparing to recruit teachers from the 2023 and 2024 batches of trained graduates.
According to the Minister, the recruitment process will begin with an estimated 6,000 to 10,000 teachers, depending on the financial clearance granted by the government.
Government’s Plan for Teacher Recruitment
Speaking on the issue of teacher employment, the Minister explained that the government recognizes the need to absorb trained teachers into the education system.
However, he emphasized that recruitment into the public sector must follow the required administrative and financial procedures.
The initial phase of the exercise is expected to target thousands of trained teachers who have completed their programmes and are awaiting employment.
Financial Clearance Required
The Minister reiterated that teacher recruitment depends largely on financial approval from the Ministry of Finance. Without such clearance, the recruitment process cannot proceed.
Once the approval is granted, the recruitment will be carried out through the , which is responsible for managing teacher employment and postings across the country.

The planned recruitment is also expected to help address teacher shortages in some schools across the country.
