President Mahama Announces 12,000-Army Recruitment, Promises Qualified Candidates Only
He disclosed that about 12,000 candidates are expected to be recruited nationwide over the next three years as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s security architecture.
The President gave the assurance in Accra at the Ghana Military Academy Graduation Parade for Regular Career Course 64 and Special Duties Course 62, where 256 new officers were commissioned into the Armed Forces.
President Mahama stressed that transparency, fairness and merit would guide the entire recruitment process, adding that the era of influence peddling and unapproved recruitment practices would not be tolerated.
He commended the graduating officers for their discipline and perseverance during training and urged them to uphold professionalism, loyalty and integrity in the discharge of their duties to the nation.
Touching on national security, the President called on all citizens to be security conscious and support the efforts of the security services, particularly in the fight against terrorism and other emerging threats.
According to him, safeguarding the peace and stability of the country is a shared responsibility that requires the active participation of both security agencies and the general public.
