The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has issued a stern warning to the Ghana Education Service (GES), demanding urgent intervention to curb the increasing incidents of violence and threats against teachers in schools nationwide. NAGRAT President Angel Carbonu announced that the Association will begin a series of actions starting June 1, 2025, if the GES fails to implement decisive measures to protect educators.

Recent Incidents:
A teacher at Asuoso Senior High School was stabbed in the eye by a student after stopping him for loitering, resulting in the teacher losing his eye.
A 16-year-old student of Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School was arrested after a gun was found in his possession during a routine dormitory search.
- A violent incident at O’Reilly Senior High School resulted in a student being stabbed and killed by a fellow student.
NAGRAT's Stance:
- The association is prepared to take drastic action, including the possibility of teachers arming themselves for self-defense, if the GES fails to address their concerns.
- NAGRAT President Angel Carbonu emphasized that "the first order of life is self-preservation" and that teachers will have to protect themselves if necessary.
