The National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education-Ghana (PRINCOF) has officially announced the end date for the macro teaching (School Teaching Support – STS) program for Level 400 students for the 2024/2025 academic year.

According to a statement signed by PRINCOF’s General Secretary, Dr. Samuel Addae-Boateng, the macro teaching program for final-year teacher trainees will conclude on 21st March 2025. This information is directed to all principals of public Colleges of Education, Vice Chancellors of affiliate universities, and the National President of the Teacher Trainees' Association of Ghana (TTAG).

Significance of the Macro Teaching Program

The macro teaching program is an essential component of teacher education in Ghana. It provides final-year trainees with practical classroom experience, allowing them to apply pedagogical theories, classroom management strategies, and subject-specific teaching methodologies in real school settings. The experience gained through this program plays a crucial role in preparing future educators for the teaching profession.

Implications for Level 400 Students

With the official end date set for March 21, 2025, Level 400 students are expected to:

Complete all required teaching hours and assignments before the deadline.

Prepare for final assessments and evaluations related to the STS program.

Engage in professional development activities to enhance their teaching competencies.

Role of Stakeholders

PRINCOF has urged all principals, staff, and stakeholders to take note of this announcement and ensure a smooth transition for teacher trainees as they complete their macro teaching program. This directive is vital for aligning academic schedules and maintaining the high standards of Ghana’s teacher education system.

Conclusion

The conclusion of macro teaching marks a significant milestone for Level 400 students, bringing them closer to graduation and professional teaching careers. As the academic year progresses, students and institutions must work together to ensure the successful completion of this critical phase in teacher training.
