Transforming Ghana's Education: A Brighter Future for All-Mahama

Education is one of the most important things in life. It's like a key that opens doors to many opportunities. In Ghana, there have been some exciting ideas about how to make our education system even better, so that every student, from primary school to university, can have a bright future.

Fair Attention to All Levels of Education

Every child, whether in primary school or university, deserves the best education. It’s important to make sure that all students get the same attention and support, no matter where they live or what school they attend. This means improving the Free Senior High School (SHS) program so that it works well for everyone.

 Improving Free SHS

Free SHS has helped many students go to school without worrying about money. But to keep it going strong, there needs to be a special and steady way to fund it. One idea is to let local farmers and businesses provide food for the schools. This way, the schools get fresh food, and the local economy grows too.

 Help for Students and Teachers

Students sometimes need extra help, especially with money for school fees or living costs. Bringing back the Student Loan Trust Fund Plus (SLTF+) and giving scholarships will help many students, especially those with disabilities, get the education they deserve.

For teachers, it’s important that they have good working conditions. By abolishing the teacher licensure exam and making sure they have comfortable places to stay near their schools, we can make their jobs easier. Teachers who work in villages and other hard-to-reach places should also get special allowances to encourage them.

Free Tertiary Education for Students with Disabilities

Every student should have a chance to go to university, including those with disabilities. Offering free tertiary education for all Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) will help them achieve their dreams and contribute to the country's development.

Using Technology in Education

Technology can make learning easier and more fun. Using 5G and Low-Earth Orbit systems, students everywhere in Ghana can access lessons and tutorials online. This means even students in remote areas can learn just like those in the big cities.

Building Better Schools and Hostels

Many students face challenges with accommodation. To solve this, there are plans to build more affordable hostels on campus, so students have a safe and comfortable place to stay while they study.

Helping Teachers Own Vehicles

To make life easier for teachers, they could be helped to buy vehicles with flexible payment plans. This way, they can travel to school more easily, especially if they work in rural areas.

Ending Collateralization of GETFund

GETFund, which is used to support education projects, should be protected. This means it shouldn’t be used as collateral (something that guarantees a loan) so that it can always be available for improving education in Ghana.

With these changes, Ghana’s education system can grow stronger, helping every student, teacher, and community to thrive. Education is the foundation of our future, and by making these improvements, we can build a brighter, more successful Ghana for everyone.
