Updates on the CETAG Strike and the Way Forward: A Commitment to Teacher Trainees
In light of recent developments concerning the ongoing strike by the Colleges of Education Teachers' Association of Ghana (CETAG), the Teacher Trainees' Association of Ghana (TTAG) remains steadfast in advocating for the rights and interests of all teacher trainees. As the situation unfolds, it is paramount that we, as a collective, remain informed and engaged with the updates and actions being taken to address this critical issue.
Leadership’s Efforts and Government Engagements
The leadership of TTAG has significantly intensified its efforts over the past weeks, engaging in robust discussions with the Government. These engagements have yielded promising assurances:
1. Compensation for Additional Duties: The payment of a one-month salary to each entitled member of CETAG as compensation for additional duties performed in 2022 is currently underway.
2. Agreed Rates of Allowances: The payment of agreed rates of allowances to deserving CETAG members has commenced.
3. Expedited Migration Process: The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has constituted a committee with representatives from stakeholders, including CETAG, to expedite the migration process.
We are optimistic that these processes will be swift, allowing our tutors to return to the classroom promptly.
Appeal to Tutors and Trainees
While we continue to engage the Government, we humbly appeal to our respected tutors to consider returning to the classroom as soon as possible. We understand the importance of their grievances and appreciate their dedication to quality education in the country. Our commitment to addressing these issues remains unwavering, and we assure all teacher trainees that their educational rights are at the forefront of our efforts.
However, should the Government fail to meet the long-standing demands of our tutors by Wednesday, 24th July 2024, we will be convinced that this is a deliberate attempt to deny trainees their educational rights, and we shall advise ourselves accordingly.
Our Commitment
TTAG remains dedicated to championing the needs and interests of teacher trainees across the country. We will continue to advocate for the best interests of our members and work tirelessly to ensure that the educational journey of every trainee is not hindered by these challenges.
As we navigate this critical time, we appreciate your attention, support, and solidarity. Together, we stand strong in our mission.
Building the Trainees’ TTAG! WE ARE TTAG! WE MEAN WELL!
