NaCCA launches QR code on approved textbooks & teacher guides – Check Here!

In a groundbreaking move to enhance the quality of education in the country, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has announced a strategic initiative to phase out unapproved instructional materials from the market. Commencing in January 2024, all approved instructional materials, including textbooks and teacher guides, will be affixed with unique QR codes, a significant step towards ensuring transparency and accountability in the education sector.

In a press release, NaCCA emphasized its commitment to promoting quality and effective education delivery, aiming to improve learning outcomes at the pre-tertiary level (KG 1 – SHS 3). The newly introduced uniquely designed QR Code Scanner will play an important role in verifying instructional materials available in the market.

The QR Code Scanner is a user-friendly tool accessible to schools, teachers, parents, publishers, and the general public. It allows real-time verification of the approval status of instructional materials, empowering stakeholders to make informed decisions about the resources utilized in teaching and learning. NaCCA highlighted that the QR code initiative aligns seamlessly with the Standards-Based Curriculum (SBC) currently being implemented at the pre-tertiary level.

In addressing concerns about previously approved materials lacking the QR code feature, NaCCA clarified that this new system would only apply to materials approved from January 2024 onwards. The Council urged caution, alerting the public to the proliferation of unapproved materials in the market falsely adorned with ‘NaCCA-GES’ approved seals. To address any uncertainty about the authenticity of materials, NaCCA encouraged individuals and schools to reach out to the Council or their respective district education offices.

NaCCA expressed its dedication to fostering transparency and accountability within the education sector, with the QR Code initiative serving as a testament to that commitment. The Council called on all stakeholders to leverage this innovative tool, contributing to the collective effort to enhance the overall quality of education in the country.

As the education landscape continues to evolve, NaCCA’s QR Code system stands as a beacon of progress, ensuring that only approved and high-quality instructional materials are utilized in the pursuit of knowledge at the pre-tertiary level. The Council’s emphasis on transparency and accountability reflects a forward-thinking approach to education, where stakeholders are empowered to make informed choices for the benefit of learners nationwide.
