The Ghana Education Service (GES) is set to release the 2026/2027 Senior High School (SHS), Senior High Technical School (SHTS), and TVET placement results on Friday, September 4, 2026, following a postponement from the originally scheduled date of August 31.
The placement exercise will determine the second-cycle institutions and programmes assigned to qualified candidates who completed the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The Ministry of Education announced the postponement after parents, guardians, students, and Heads of Schools requested additional time to complete the submission and uploading of student information onto the WAEC and Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) platforms. According to the Ministry, about 20,000 qualified students had not yet had their school choices uploaded onto the CSSPS platform at the time of the announcement, and the extra time was meant to ensure these candidates weren't excluded from the exercise.
When Will the Placement Be Released?
The 2026/2027 CSSPS placement results are scheduled for release on Friday, September 4, 2026. Candidates and parents are advised to be cautious of unofficial claims about the release and to rely only on the official CSSPS platform and communications from the Ministry of Education and GES.
How to Check Your Placement
Once the results are available, candidates can check their placement online through the official CSSPS portal by following these steps:
- Visit the CSSPS Placement Portal: Go to cssps.gov.gh
- Select "Check Placement": Choose the option to check your placement and proceed to the candidate login page
- Enter Your BECE Index Number: The portal requires your 10-digit BECE index number followed by the last two digits of the examination year
- Enter Your Date of Birth: Use the date of birth submitted during BECE registration
- Sign In and View Your Placement: Once signed in, you'll see your assigned school, programme, placement information, and relevant placement documents
Candidates should carefully review all information displayed and follow the instructions provided by the CSSPS.
What If a Candidate Is Not Placed?
Candidates who are not automatically placed may have the opportunity to use the self-placement option, where available, allowing them to select from schools and programmes with vacancies. Candidates should follow the official instructions displayed on the portal at the time they check their results.
When Will Freshers Report to School?
According to the 2026/2027 academic calendar, fresh students entering Senior High Schools, Senior High Technical Schools, and other second-cycle institutions are expected to report on Friday, September 18, 2026. This gives candidates and parents about two weeks after the placement release to check their placement, complete admission processes, and prepare for reporting.
