Police Officer Accused of Impregnating and Infecting 15-Year-Old Daughter with HIV

A police officer stationed in Mampong is facing serious allegations after his 15-year-old daughter reportedly contracted HIV and was forced to terminate a pregnancy he allegedly caused.

The officer, identified as Inspector Desmond, is accused of repeatedly sleeping with the girl, a BECE candidate, despite knowing his HIV-positive status.

The claims were made public by the victim’s mother, who resides in Koforidua. She told Crime Check that her daughter revealed the abuse had been ongoing for some time.

The mother and Inspector Desmond were never married and had been living in separate cities when the incidents occurred.

According to the mother, her daughter’s HIV status came to light during a routine check-up at a clinic. She also alleged that the officer pressured the girl into ending the pregnancy he was responsible for.

The mother further stated that the Ghana Police Service has been slow to act on the case, even though it was reported eight months ago. Instead of facing disciplinary action, Inspector Desmond is said to have asked the family to settle the matter privately at home.

The case has raised concerns about delays in addressing sexual abuse allegations involving law enforcement officers and the protection of minors in such situations.
