Teacher Recruitment to Begin Soon as Finance Ministry Grants Clearance
The government has announced that teacher recruitment will begin soon following the approval of financial clearance by the Ministry of Finance.
Speaking during a public engagement, President John Dramani Mahama revealed that the clearance has removed the financial barriers that previously delayed the recruitment process.
Clearance Paves Way for Recruitment
According to the President, the approval now allows the government to proceed with a nationwide recruitment exercise in the coming days. He explained that this forms part of a broader agenda to reset and strengthen key sectors, particularly education.
Application Portal to Open Soon
He further disclosed that preparations are underway to ensure a smooth and transparent recruitment process. The application portal is expected to be opened soon, giving qualified and trained teachers the opportunity to apply.
Role of Ghana Education Service
The recruitment exercise will be managed by the Ghana Education Service (GES), which will oversee the selection and placement of successful applicants across schools nationwide.
Addressing Teacher Shortage
The initiative is expected to:
- Reduce the backlog of trained teachers awaiting employment
- Address teacher shortages in schools
- Improve staffing in rural and underserved communities
Commitment to Education
President Mahama emphasized that the government remains committed to strengthening the education sector by ensuring that schools are adequately staffed. This, he noted, will ultimately improve teaching and learning outcomes across the country.
