CLOGSAG Declares Nationwide Strike Effective Monday

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced a nationwide strike scheduled to take effect from Monday following unresolved issues regarding the implementation of its salary structure.

The decision was taken after several engagements with government authorities reportedly failed to produce the expected results.

Reason for the Strike

According to CLOGSAG leadership, the industrial action has been declared due to the government’s delay in implementing the approved salary structure for members of the association.

The union explained that despite previous assurances and discussions with relevant stakeholders, the agreed adjustments have not yet been effected.

This situation, they say, has left many members frustrated and compelled the association to take stronger action.

Impact on Public Services

The strike action is expected to affect operations across several public institutions where CLOGSAG members work. These include:

  • Local government offices
  • District and municipal assemblies
  • Administrative departments in government institutions

If the strike continues for an extended period, it could disrupt administrative services across the country.

Call for Government Intervention

CLOGSAG has called on the government to urgently address the concerns raised by the association in order to prevent prolonged disruptions.

The leadership emphasized that the strike could be called off if concrete steps are taken to implement the agreed salary structure.

Appeal to Members

Members of the association have been urged to comply fully with the strike directive until further notice. The leadership has assured members that it remains committed to pursuing better conditions of service through lawful means.

The announcement has intensified discussions within the public sector as stakeholders await further engagement between the government and the association to resolve the impasse.
