What was supposed to be a simple courtroom move turned into pure legal drama.
In the extradition case involving popular social media influencer Frederick Kumi, aka Abu Trica, state prosecutors suddenly applied to drop the charges against the second and third accused persons.
Sounds straightforward, right?
Not in this court.
The judge flatly refused.
Yes — the state said “we are no longer interested”, but the judge basically said “count me out.” She distanced herself from the decision and declined to officially discontinue the case.
That was when things got spicy.
“We Have Met Pontius Pilate in Court Today”
Robert Ishmael Aggrey Amissah, lawyer for the second accused, didn’t hold back.
In a viral courtroom moment, he declared:
“We have come to meet Pontius Pilate in court today.”
His meaning was clear: the state tried to walk away, the judge refused, and in his words, “washed her hands off the case.”
The result?
Nobody knows the fate of the second and third accused persons.
The charges are not dropped. The case is not moving. It’s just… hanging.
Abu Trica’s Case Still On
While that confusion continues, Abu Trica’s own case is still active.
The Gbese District Court has adjourned his matter to February 2, 2026, after which he left the court premises.
Defence Goes All Out
The defence team is not sitting quietly.
According to the lawyer:
An application for bail for all three accused persons has been filed at the High Court on January 20.
Additional applications have also been filed to quash the entire process.
His words were blunt:
“The illegality involved cannot be allowed.”
What Happens Next?
Now, Ghana waits.
Abu Trica returns to court in February
High Court applications are pending
The second and third accused are stuck in legal limbo
And February is going to be interesting. 👀
