NIA announces increase in fees for Ghana Card services
The National Identification Authority has announced new fees for selected Ghana Card services across the country.
The Authority said the adjustment affects services linked to registration, updates, and replacement of cards. The new fees take effect immediately at all registration centres.
Officials explained the decision as part of measures to support operations and improve service delivery. Rising administrative and logistical costs influenced the review.
Affected services include first time registration under specific conditions. Record updates such as name correction and date of birth changes also fall under the new charges. Card replacement services now attract higher fees.
The Authority urged applicants to take note before visiting registration centres. Applicants must prepare the required fees and documents to avoid delays.
The Ghana Card remains a key national document. Citizens rely on it for banking, mobile money, SIM registration, and access to public services.
NIA said staff at centres will provide guidance on the revised charges. The Authority advised the public to rely on official information and avoid middlemen.
The fee adjustment forms part of ongoing reforms within the identification system. Authorities said further updates will reach the public through official channels.
