Interior Minister Exposes ‘Protocol’ Recruitment Scam; Suspect Arrested
The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has exposed and condemned a fraudulent recruitment scheme involving so-called “protocol” enlistment into the security services, leading to the arrest of a suspect.
The Minister made this known during a monitoring exercise at police recruitment centres, where he revealed that investigations had uncovered individuals collecting money from applicants under the false promise of guaranteed recruitment into the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies.
According to him, such practices undermine the credibility of the security services and exploit the desperation of young job seekers.
“There is no room for protocol recruitment, shortcuts, or payment for enlistment. Recruitment into the security services will be done strictly on merit,” the Minister stated.
He stressed that anyone found engaging in or facilitating such fraudulent activities will be dealt with according to the law, regardless of their political affiliation or social status.
The arrested suspect is currently in custody, assisting with investigations as security agencies work to dismantle similar networks operating across the country.
The Interior Minister further cautioned the public, particularly applicants and their families, to ignore claims by individuals who promise recruitment slots in exchange for money. He noted that no official recruitment process requires payment or third-party involvement.
He urged applicants to rely solely on official instructions issued during the recruitment process and to report suspicious individuals to the nearest police station.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring transparency, fairness, and integrity in the ongoing recruitment exercise, assuring Ghanaians that only qualified and deserving applicants will be enlisted.
As recruitment continues nationwide, authorities have intensified monitoring at screening centres to prevent malpractice and restore public confidence in the system.
