UCC Releases Draft Calendar for 2024/2025 Academic Year for its Affiliated Colleges of Education

 


The University of Cape Coast (UCC), through its Institute of Education, has released the draft academic calendar for the 2024/2025 academic year for its affiliated Colleges of Education across Ghana. In a circular dated 26th May 2025, the Director of the Institute of Education, Prof. Eric Anane, called on principals of affiliated colleges to review and provide feedback on the draft calendar by 30th May 2025.


Let’s break down the key highlights from this academic roadmap for students and staff in simple, clear terms:


🔹 Start of the Academic Year


Level 400 Students kick things off early. From November 11–14, 2024, they return to campus for orientation ahead of their macro teaching (school attachment), which runs from November 15, 2024, to March 15, 2025.


🔹 First Semester (Levels 100–300)


January 27 – April 5, 2025: All Level 100, 200, and 300 students return to campus for the first semester.


Registration takes place from January 27 – February 23, 2025.


A Test Item Development Workshop follows on February 11.


From February 24–28, students will undergo college-based quizzes and academic monitoring.


Mid-semester exams are scheduled for March 20–26, with a deadline to pay fees on March 31.


End-of-semester exams run from April 6–17, after which students vacate on April 17.



🔹 Marking and Results


Marking begins almost immediately: Level 100 scripts from May 13–22, and Level 200/300 from May 22–31.


A Board Meeting will be held on June 10 to discuss results, followed by publication on June 11.



🔹 Second Semester


The second semester begins on June 16 and runs through September 19, 2025.


A second Test Item Development Workshop is scheduled for June 25.


Students will be monitored and assessed again through quizzes and academic evaluations from July 14–18, and mid-sem exams from August 18–22.


Fee payment deadline for the semester: August 22.



🔹 End-of-Semester Exams and Final Results


September 6–20: Final exams will be held in two phases: first for Levels 100 & 400, then Levels 200 & 300.


Marking happens in late September and early October.


Another round of Board Meetings and results publication will follow:


Oct 14 & 15: For Levels 100 & 400


Oct 28 & 29: For Levels 200 & 300



🔹 Resit Examinations


Students who need to re-sit exams will do so from October 17–26.


Marking and result publications are scheduled into early November.
