Accra College of Education in darkness after Tuesday’s rainstorm

The Accra College of Education remains without electricity after a rainstorm pulled down several electric poles and trees on campus.

The storm, which occurred on Tuesday, March 25, flooded hostel rooms destroying students’ belongings.

No casualties have since been recorded.

The storm’s strong winds uprooted several trees on campus, which are currently being cleared.

However, they are still causing inconvenience to students due to their locations.

Students are still salvaging their valuables, with some having to catch up and sit for mid-semester exams.

The fallen electric poles are being repaired by the relevant authorities.

Principal of the Accra College of Education, Samuel Atintono said management is currently evaluating the situation and conducting an inventory of damaged items to inform the recovery and replacement process.

“Management is assessing the situation. The rainstorm came last night and a number of our trees have been uprooted and a part of the principal’s bungalow has been affected and the most critical one is that the uprooted trees are still on top of the buildings and the students are also writing their AIs.”
