President-elect Mahama Endorses Alban Bagbin as Speaker for the 9th Parliament

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has formally instructed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Leadership to nominate The Right Honourable Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin as the Speaker of the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic.

This decision, which followed extensive consultations with NDC leadership, acknowledges Bagbin’s exceptional contributions to parliamentary service and governance.

Alban Bagbin, who has represented the Nadwoli constituency for many years, has held various influential roles, including Minority Leader, Majority Leader, and most recently, Speaker of the 8th Parliament. His wealth of experience and leadership acumen have earned him widespread respect within Ghana’s political landscape.

President-elect Mahama expressed confidence in Bagbin’s ability to provide strong and effective leadership in Parliament. He emphasized that Bagbin’s stewardship would enhance the institution’s capacity to advance Ghana’s democracy and legislative progress.
