August 2024 Online Licensing Examinations Press Release by N&MC

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (N&MC), the official regulator of the Nursing and Midwifery Professions in Ghana, has announced the commencement of the August 2024 Online Licensing Examination. Starting today, Friday, August 2, 2024, this significant examination period will continue until August 21, 2024.

 Ensuring Standards and Compliance

The N&MC conducts these Licensing Examinations as part of its mandate outlined in Section 55(g) of the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act 2013 (Act 857). This mandate includes the responsibility to "conduct licensing examinations for registration of nurses, midwives, and nurse assistants." By adhering to this mandate, the N&MC aims to ensure that all licensed nurses and midwives in Ghana are competent to provide safe and efficient healthcare services.

Examination Scope and Participants

The examination is being conducted for all student nurses and midwives admitted into accredited Nursing and Midwifery Training Institutions. All candidates have completed their respective training programs in compliance with the Council's regulatory standards. The N&MC emphasizes that this examination acts as a critical gatekeeping mechanism to assure the public of the competence of its licensed professionals.

This year, a total of 23,037 candidates will sit for the Licensing Examinations, which are being held at 91 centers across the country.

 Commitment to Integrity and Fairness

The N&MC has reiterated its unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and fairness in the examination process. The Council's primary focus is the success of all candidates, and it assures that no effort will be spared in guaranteeing a credible and transparent assessment.

Candidates are reminded that their integrity and hard work are their greatest assets. They are cautioned against falling for dishonest schemes that could jeopardize their future careers. The Council advises candidates to stay vigilant, rely only on official sources for study materials, and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the Council immediately.

 Professional Conduct

The N&MC also calls on all invigilators and examiners to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity during the examination period. Any compromise on these standards will not be tolerated.

Customer Service Commitment

In line with its core value of being customer-focused, the N&MC has informed all clients that the Council's offices will remain open to serve them during regular working hours, Monday through Friday, except on public holidays, throughout the examination period.

 Conclusion

The N&MC wishes all candidates success in their examinations and encourages them to stay focused and vigilant. This commitment to integrity and professionalism ensures the continued trust and safety of healthcare services in Ghana.
