The Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has appointed a 22-year-old who recently graduated from the University of Cape Coast as a medical doctor as the new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Ambassador for Ghana. This young medical professional, Dr. Kwaku Boakye Gyamfi, is set to inspire students across pre-tertiary institutions by sharing his academic journey and encouraging them to excel in their studies.
This announcement was made during a visit by Dr. Gyamfi and his family to the minister in Accra, where Dr. Adutwum commended Dr. Gyamfi's dedication to his studies and his remarkable achievement at such a young age. Dr. Adutwum highlighted the importance of Dr. Gyamfi's role in motivating the youth and shared optimism about the positive impact his story could have on students nationwide.
Dr. Gyamfi, who will soon start his housemanship at the 37 Military Hospital, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and committed to collaborating with the Ministry of Education to foster a culture of academic excellence among students. Born in April 2001, Dr. Gyamfi embarked on his educational journey at Danem Royal Montessori School at one and a half years old, transitioning through various schools in Accra before completing his junior secondary education at Startrite Montessori School with exceptional grades. He attended Prempeh College for his senior high school education, where he graduated at sixteen with outstanding results.
In 2017, at the age of sixteen, Dr. Gyamfi was admitted to the University of Cape Coast School of Medical Sciences, where he completed his medical training in six years, graduating in September 2023. He was honored as the overall best graduating student in surgery during the 5th session of the 56th Congregation at the University of Cape Coast, marking a significant milestone in his y
