The Controller and Accountant General (CAGD) has been requested in writing by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to withhold the salaries of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) members for the month of August.
According to a statement issued by the director of administration, Saaka Sayuti, the action will have an impact on the teaching staff at all 46 CETAG colleges.
Parts of the August 21 press statement stated, "We write at the Honourable Minister of Education's request, requesting you NOT to pay monthly salary and allowances for the month of August 2023 to the Teaching Staff of all 46 Colleges of Education."
However, the letter instructed CAGD to verify and settle any arrears owed to CETAG before August 2023.
